Attorney Andy Nolen: Non-secure Residential Programs Referals in Court

Issues in Mental Health Nursing

Non-secure Residential Programs
OJJ provides a list of residential contract facilities to the regional offices to assist in making appropriate referrals.
Probation and Parole Officers monitor the treatment services provided by the contracted providers. Psychological/psychiatric services are available to all youth identified as having mental health issues and/or administered psychotropic medications.
Facilities contract to provide specialized treatment services. Residential facilities use behavior modification models that are proven to produce positive changes in youths’ behavior. All residential facilities provide educational services, either through schools on the facility campus or in the community. The treatment staff continually updates the Individualized Intervention Plan (IIP).
